There are two complementary skill sets that together provide the edge in the knowledge economy. The are - Thinking Skills: Knowlege is the "knowing that influences our behaviour". To arrive at this "knowing" we need to extract knowledge from information. Our thinking skills are pivotal in being aboe to extract more relevant information quicker than our competitors.
- Specialised knowledge: In order to engage new information effectively we need to have a "ready mind" to engage the information. We often require a lot of prior knowledge in order to make sense of new information. To do this we need to be knowledgeable on a variety of relevant, specialised subjects.
